This month marks our third Bookstagrammer of the Month! We began this as an experiment — trying to try new ways of being on social media and interacting with our digital audiences as the doors to our store were closed. With our doors now fully open (yes! seriously!), we hope to continue this project in the future! We are thrilled with the response and grateful to our latest ‘grammers, a trio of women who go by @storymamas.

Learn more about them below, and be sure to give them — and us! @pagesontheave — a follow on Instagram.

When did you start your account and why?

We call ourselves, Storymamas. We are 3 friends who met while teaching in a private school in Chicago back in 2008. After a few years we all went to teach in other schools, but stayed in touch. We texted often about what our students were reading and what read alouds we had chosen. Then we started having our own kids. Our texting now was about the books we read to them. One day after reading The Nerdy Book Club blog we got an idea to start our own blog with book recommendations, lesson ideas, and stories about books. With full time teaching jobs and young kids, we learned how hard it is to keep up with a blog. We still wanted to share our book passion and so #storymamasbookaday was born! For over three years, one of us has posted about a children’s book a day on our social media pages.

How would you describe your feed’s style and what can people expect from following you?

Our mission is to share our passion for kidlit with our followers. We recommend children’s books starting with board books through middle grade.

What are a few of your favorite Bookstagram accounts?

@hereweread, @happily.ever.elephants, @librarymombooks, @ramonarecommends

What are you currently reading?

Ashley just finished Starfish by Lisa Fipps, Kimberly is about to read the third Derby DareDevils by Kit Rosewater and Courtney is fitting in time with an adult book, The Last Guest House.

Any tips for Bookstagrammers just starting out?

We’ve met many wonderful people in this bookstagram community. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and reach out to people, all are so helpful and friendly!
